Robbie
SIMPLY STUNNING
Simplicity of design. Purity of sound. Meet
Robbie, Blue’s Class-A discrete tube microphone
and instrument preamplifier. All of the technical
quality and design innovation that goes into
our line of award-winning microphones has
been engineered into making Robbie one of
the finest tube preamps available today. With
no ICs and only the highest- quality discrete
components from input to output, Robbie is
one of the quietest (-131 dB EIN @ 50 ohms)
and most detailed (THD 0.006%) tube preamps
available today. It features audiophile-grade
ultra low noise metal film resistors and polystyrene
capacitors, and provides the user with the
best of both worlds: An electronically-balanced,
fully discrete input stage, tube gain stage
(ECC88 twin triode), and an electronically-balanced
solid-state output stage. There is no switching
crossover distortion anywhere in the completely
balanced audio signal path. And if that’s
not enough, Robbie achieves and amazing 34dB
headroom before clipping!
Elegance
and simplicity are the driving forces behind
our design philosophy, and Robbie is no exception.
The front panel features a single large backlit
potentiometer (gain) and 1/4 hi-Z instrument
input. On the back, you’ll find the power
cable input, power switch, balanced XLR mic
input, balanced XLR line output, polarity
switch, -20 dB pad, input selector switch
(mic/instrument) and phantom power on/off.
Robbie’s
gorgeous design and ease of use will quickly
make it one of the most valuable lifeforms
in your studio.
Cactus
SPINE TINGLING SOUND
In
the tradition of the world's best (and most
expensive) vintage vocal microphones, The
Cactus delivers a commanding, intimate presence
and larger-than-life detail. The amplifier
design is a transformer-balanced single vacuum
tube sub-miniature pentode in a triode mode,
along with the highest quality hand-selected
electronic components to insure low noise
and minimal distortion. At a distance, The
Cactus delivers every nuance in the room,
with finely focused resolution and clear,
musical frequency response to the extremes
of the audible spectrum. Up close, with its
detailed highs and smooth midrange, the nine-pattern
Cactus excels at delivering a vocal or solo
track right to the front of the mix where
it belongs.
Dragonfly
YEAR OF THE DRAGONFLY
Fast,
maneuverable and beautifully engineered, the
Dragonfly employs an innovative design that
offers fine tuning and precise placement to
please the most discerning recordist, combined
with an ease of use that is without equal
among contemporary microphones — and at a
price that’s considerably less than anything
in its class. Winner of both the 2001 TEC
Award and an Electronic Musician’s 2001 Editor’s
Choice award, the Dragonfly is a unique pressure-gradient
cardioid condenser microphone, employing the
Blue’s hand-built single-membrane large diaphragm
capsule coated with a 6-micron mylar film
of pure gold and aluminum. Enclosed within
a rotating spherical grille, the capsule can
be positioned and adjusted in the smallest
spaces. Complete with an integrated elastic
shockmount, the microphone’s electronics are
based on a class A discrete circuit, with
a transformerless output. Its sonic character
gives flight to everything from vocals to
percussion, electric guitar and bass, as well
as more “difficult” sources such as saxophones
and stringed instruments.
Blueberry
PICK OF THE CROP
Winner
of Electronic Musician's 2000 Editors' Choice
Award for Best Microphone, the Blueberry consists
of a Class A discrete transformer based microphone
amplifier perfectly chosen to compliment our
cardioid pattern, hand- built large diaphragm
capsule.
First
and foremost, the Blueberry has been designed
to provide the commanding, intimate presence
associated with the world’s best (and most
expensive) vintage vocal microphones. With
its shimmering, detailed highs, smooth midrange,
and minimized proximity effect (a bass boost
inherent in all unidirectional mics), the
Blueberry excels at delivering a vocal right
to the front of the mix where it belongs.
When processed with limiting and/or compression,
as is standard practice for most pop vocals,
tracks recorded with the Blueberry will be
free of pumping, low frequency thumps. Acoustic
guitar, hand percussion, drums, and other
critical high end sources also shine in front
of the Blueberry, gaining an extra measure
of presence that enables the most delicate
sounds to cut through a mix, even at very
low levels.
Designed
to fill the needs of the home musician and
the professional alike, the Blueberry includes
the Series Two Shockmount and comes handsomely
packaged in its own cherrywood box. Whatever
your music, add a Blueberry to the mix and
let your ears feast on the sound.
